The Delonghi Dedica EC685R is one sleek and stylish machine. Measuring in at just 15cm it is the narrowest coffee machine we currently feature on our site. The clean Matte finish, coupled with flourishes of metal makes it look fabulous…It also makes world-class Espresso as well!
The simplicity in the design mirrors the simplicity in the control system. Three buttons are all you need to make a single or double espresso and turn on the steamer. One of it’s most incredible features is the Espresso itself. It’s 15 bar pressure system consistently produces rich and aromatic crema. While we usually like a pressure gauge with our espresso machines, there are countless reviews online saying how good the Espresso from this machine is. So clearly this machine is so good it doesn’t need a pressure gauge!
There is also a milk frother for those who like Lattes, Cappuccino and Mochaccino! Although the plastic bit at the top of the frother can difficult to clean if you get milk on it, you know what they say about spilt milk…
While some love the simplicity of the control scheme, some reviews have also said it is slightly complicated to use. Only having 3 buttons can actually make espressos more complicated. While it’s certainly harder to make an espresso than with a bean-to-cup machine, we don’t consider the DEDICA EC685R any harder than the others.
Another common gripe is that you can’t fit larger mugs under the espresso spout. However, by removing the drip tray, it’s easy to place a conventional size mug underneath it.
This machine looks great, will fit anywhere in your kitchen and produces world-class Espresso! It’s not the cheapest espresso machine out there. Still, considering the milk frother and premium feel, we feel it represents good value for money for its quality and features.
